CHEB is the collaborative art and design practice of Christine Cholewa and Deb Jones established in 2013 in Adelaide, South Australia. Both originally studied Glass at university art schools before moving to Adelaide— Jones in 1993 from Canberra and Cholewa in 2004 from Canada—to undertake the two-year Associate Training Program in JamFactory’s Glass Studio. Members of the Blue Pony Studios in Stepney, the pair worked closely together and from 2007 to 2011 were also part of JamFactory’s Glass Studio management team.

While both artists continue to maintain independent practices, since 2013 CHEB has provided a very successful collaborative platform for them to focus on public art, urban design and product design

CHEB concrete product, 2018
concrete, brass

The CHEB collection of concrete tableware and small sculptural objects express the raw materiality of concrete and the process of their making. CHEB deliberately uses readily available and ephemeral materials such as cardboard and duct tape to create moulds for each product. These soft, flexible mould materials are solidly and permanently captured once the poured concrete is set.
